         Taking birth in the ranges of Brahmagiri Papanasini flows through thick forest, the treasue of roots and leaves of many unknown medicinal plants. Devotees consider Papanasini as a holy river like   Ganga, to purify humans and lead them into the ultimate “moksha”. They believe that the offerings performed in Papanasini will lead the souls to acquire moksha.The legendary underground river Saraswathi is supposed to unite with the holy river Ganga and becomes Papanasini.

                                                                      Panchatheertham

     On the way to Papansini there is a pond named Panchatheertham. It was a very vast and astounding

lake but shriveled in to the size of a pond.in the centre of the pond there is a rock on which the feet of lord vishnu are carved. It was symbolical with Sankha(Conch), Chakra (helm), gadha and padma (lotus). Take a bath in this considered to be sacred.
