ABSOLUTE AND RELATIVE GRADING IN CBSE
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) introduces Grading System for classes IX and X combining absolute and relative grading. Professor H S Srivastava, Dean, NCERT, said that it will determine a child's place among others as absolute grading will be determined by the marks obtained by the students with the assessments of relative grading or percentiles also.

He said on the launch of an interactive module for schools, the questions in the exams should be such that they test the specific ability of a child in a way to put various abilities of a child. He added that the grading system is will not have any effect on the teaching modules and it solely the system of declaring marks. “Marks are the points, grades are the ranges."
